It’s a wonderful day for the Indian subcontinent as India’s Kailash Satyarthi and Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education“. Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian children’s rights activist, has been active in the movement against child labour since the 1990s, and together with Malala Yousafzai (who should have been awarded the Nobel Prize last year) they have made our Indian subcontinent proud and how! Kailash is the seventh Nobel Prize Winner from India and only the second Indian to win the Nobel Peace Prize after Mother Teresa. For Malala, it’s such a wonderful achievement to inspire so many people at the age of 17! At 17 all I could do was try to figure how to clear my logic paper. Anyway, here are 5 inspirational quotes from the lady herself which will make you admire her courage even more!
1) When Malala totally OWNED those ass&^*%# who had attacked her
The only good thing that came out of that horrible incident was a youth icon.
2) When she made us realise how important education is
#Boss
3) When she made us realise how lucky we are to have access to education
*Starts preparing for the UPSC entrance exams mom always shouts about*
4) When she specifically mentioned what her goal was
The Nobel Peace Prize was just an added bonus.
5) When she explained feminism in one simple line
So simple, so perfect. Malala Yousafzai is definitely the feminist icon we all need, especially in our continent.
Congratulations Kailash Satyarthi and Malala! You have made us all so proud.
