It’s amazing how TV has such a big impact on all our lives; even if you’re not a TV buff, there are certain TV characters that you could just not have missed. They are the ones who may have had you holding your stomach and rolling on the floor in a laugh riot with family and friends.
Let’s recall some of the most memorable ones that have made a special place in your TVictionary & celebrate the joy of happy memories they gave you.
1. Maya Sarabhai
The first on our list of the most memorable TV characters is Maya Sarabhai from Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. She is charming, witty and so full of “Oh Monisha, so middle class” all the time!
Do you remember the time on the show when Maya Sarabhai finds out her daughter-in-law who lives at cuff parade goes to the road side vendor to buy vegetables and also bargains from him?! #Lol
Maya Sarabhai was too cute, cool and instead of sounding like a stuck up elitist; her character was defined delicately to portray her class but not without a heart.
We love you Maya Sarabhai! There’s been nobody as “Classy” as you ever since then.
2. Rosesh
Momma’s boy, Rosesh is every father’s nightmare and even every mother’s to an extent. But Maya Sarabhai loved her Rosesh and her Rosesh loved her back. Similarly, only his “Momma” loved his shabby poetry and nobody else. This one was a real antic piece on the show.
Rosesh amazingly brought out the humor of a boy who forgot to become a man because of too much pampering from Maya Sarabhai. Remember that episode when Rosesh dared to select his own wife who happened to be snootier than his “Momma”? The one with the expensive Chihuahua from Australia! See I am giggling even while typing this one out
3. Hansa & Prafull
These two crack pots come in a package. You cannot describe one without the other.
Here you go:
Hansa: Yeh Depend kya hota hai Praffull??
Prafful: Depend Hansa… wo Swimming Pool mein ek taraf to paani kam gehra hota hai, aur dusri side zyada gehra… Deep-End…Depend! #LMAO
Hansa –Prafull taught their viewers why patience is your key with crazy members of your family. Khichdi was the most simple and silly show on Indian TV, few years ago.
4. Jethalal
This guy from Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma is so cute I can’t begin to tell you how much. Jethalal is just simply phenomenal! Hilarious and how; Every time I see him, I crack up Jethalal is one such neighbor you would love to have. He is this electronics shop owner, scared of his daddy, loves to flirt with hot Dolly next door and terrified of his brother-in-law. He dupes him all the time and his wife pacifies him with some spontaneous garba. Lol
The best times on the show are when he is completely tired of trouble that he chooses to nicely sit and eat thinking problems can be solved with a big plate of theplas and dhoklas with lots of sleep thereafter!
5. Raman Kumar Bhalla
Raman’s comic timing is amazing! His witty comments on his wife are to die for. He is that sort of a character you would love to have in your family. His straight faced humor is awesome. I recall one of his most famous dialogues “Yeh kya hai? Doosri bar shaadi kar raha hu aur usme bhi sangeet?”
Raman in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is always facing trouble either from his ex-wife or then his second wife has complaints lined up for him. Battling everyday life with his sarcasm is someone you need to watch out for. Raman’s introduced a new level of humor on Indian TV!
Have I missed any more epic characters? Remind me in your comments! Won’t you?
