A shirt is probably the most versatile piece of clothing anyone could own. You can wear it in so many ways and style it with so many things – the possibilities are endless. For someone who loves dressing up, a shirt is an absolute wardrobe essential. So when Bombay Shirt Company invited Team MissMalini over to come and take a look at what they do, I jumped at the opportunity (Psst, watch the whole thing on MissMalini’s World on TLC tonight at 7:30). With everything from letting you select your fabric, your buttons, trimmings and collars, to small details like your initials stitched onto the shirt – they let you customise everything. It’s a shirt designed by you, with the help of their expertise and the result is perfection. You can read more about how they work, here. When my shirt finally arrived, I had to wear it immediately – not just once, but with everything I could. Take a look…
To Work, With A Skirt
Simply tuck your shirt into a high waisted skirt. If your shirt is white, it can match with practically any colour and if you skirt is multicoloured like my Zara one, you can add a slight edge to your look.
With Jeans, For Some Ease
Wear your shirt with a basic pair of jeans to make it a bit more casual.
The trick to add some style to the look is to keep the shirt half tucked and your jeans cropped. Wear with heels for a night out and flats for the day.
Preppy Poser
To make your look slightly more preppy, button it up all the way to the top. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing below, the style lies in the collar.
Add a necklace under the collar – accessories are never a bad idea!
Works Well On A Dress
Pick a dress, any dress. Now throw your shirt over it and just tie up the bottom of it. Sure this might be slightly inspired from Rangeela but that movie had great style and great style never dies. Recreate and reuse.
Simple enough? Now dig that shirt out of your closet and experiment, I’m sure you can come up with something super chic. And for a bonus trick, if you’re ever going to the pool and don’t know what to use as a cover up, throw on that shirt – it will cover just what you need without compromising on the style.
