Remember the 11-year old child actor, Ayesha Kapur who played Michelle McNally so effortlessly in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Black? Yup, the actress is all grown up now and is ready to make her comeback opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Shekar Kapur‘s Paani. We also hear she’s YRF‘s new favourite and has bagged a three film deal with the production house. Given how talented this 20 year old is, it comes as no surprise. It is a big deal to hold your own against the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, after all.
Rumours were rife that Shekhar had approached Hollywood starlets Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson to play the lead in his film based on a futuristic love story set in Mumbai, until he decided to go with Ayesha. Sushant plays a boy from the lower city who steals into the higher city where he meets Ayesha. We also hear that the YRF team has been sworn into secrecy and are not allowed to divulge more details.
While we’re curious to see how this pans out, we’re most definitely looking forward to the performances in the film, given the talented cast. And not to forget the director himself, who has some of the most iconic Indian films to his credit. The film, we hear, is set to release in 2015. Whether Ayesha Kapur makes it as big as Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar, who have previously been directed by Shekhar, we’ll have to wait and see. What are your thoughts?
