So, if there’s one actress I have a girl crush on, it definitely is Kalki Koechlin. I’ve been in awe of her from the day I watched her first movie, Dev D, back in high school when I pretended to be 18 at the theatre. *LOL*. (What? Don’t judge. We’ve all done this at some point!) Without further ado, here are five reasons we love this super talented woman:
1. HAVE YOU SEEN HER FACE?
I mean, just look at that face! Yes, I know you’ve all seen it, but have you noticed how refreshingly different it is from all the other Bollywood actresses out there? And yet, she fits in so seamlessly in all of her movies. Her looks also bagged her a role in Soni Razdan’s Love Affair, btw.
2. SHE’S NOT AFRAID TO STAND UP FOR WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN
She’s one of the few actors out there who will not shy away from speaking up for what she believes in. Be it rape, be it feminism, be it anything, you know she will speak her mind if and when she has to. Remember the AIB video she was part of? Watch it here if you haven’t seen it already.
3. HER CHOICE OF FILMS
Right from her debut film, Kalki has always managed to do things differently. Her performance in Dev D oozed confidence and maturity that most newcomers seldom have. Agree? She’s always experimented and played different characters in films like Shaitaan and That Girl In Yellow Boots. She was a part of the multi-starrer Ye Jawaani Hain Deewani, and still managed to be noticed for her performance.
4. IF HER CHOICE OF FILMS WASN’T ENOUGH, SHE BLOWS OUR MINDS OFF WITH HER ACTING CHOPS
Did you see her performance in Shaitaan and more recently in Margarita with a straw? That’s what you call a power packed performance! Apart from acting in movies, Kalki is a prominent name in the theatre circuit too. If you’ve been lucky enough to watch her plays, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
5. HER IMPECCABLE FASHION SENSE
She can pull off almost any look, can’t she? Plus she’s so well dressed all the time. I’m yet to come across a picture where she was dressed horrendously! I hope that day never comes.
