Bigg Boss 8 is all set for its larger than life launch on the small screen on the 21st of September. While we wait with bated breath for Sunday, so do the producers of some of the biggest upcoming Bollywood films. Why you ask? It’s because the show provides a platform for promotion of films that reaches to a much wider audience than films do.
Just recently, we told you how the biggest Diwali release of 2014, Happy New Year, may most likely be making a promotional appearance on the show. That’d be a huge moment on TV as it will, yet again, bring together Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Salman extended an invitation to SRK on the press launch of Bigg Boss, which SRK graciously accepted.
But guess which big film has decided to not come on Bigg Boss? It’s the much awaited Katrina Kaif-Hrithik Roshan starrer, Bang Bang.
Apparently, the makers of Bigg Boss approached the Bang Bang team for them to make an appearance. However, the latter politely declined the invitation. They wanted Hrithik and Kat to be a part of their very first episode, but now, sadly for fans, that’s not going to happen anymore.
A source has been quoted as saying “The Bang Bang team has decided not to promote their film on any TV shows as they feel they can’t recreate the scale of ‘Bang Bang’ on any reality show.” Also, we hear that the makers are confident that the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair is going to be USP enough to draw the audiences into theaters. Well, the chemistry sure has been a headline grabber off late.
If you remember, last year, Dhoom 3 took a similar stand. The makers did not want to promote the film on TV. Interestingly, Salman, who is a good friend of Aamir Khan’s, sported the patent Dhoom 3 hat that Aamir wore in the film. Clearly their decision to not promote did not affect their business at all as they went on have record breaking success.
Well, looking at Dhoom 3’s success and also the great buzz that is already around Bang Bang, we don’t think the film has anything to worry about.
