Sad news for those of you who were looking forward to Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma‘s Bombay Velvet: the film has now been delayed until May, instead of releasing in November as initially planned. From what we hear, the film is just not going to be ready by November given the huge amount of VFX work that is required. Apparently, there’s a lot still pending and in his attempt to recreate 1960s Bombay, Anurag Kashyap did not realise that the VFX would take this much time to complete.
They are expecting that all this heavy post-production work on the film will go on until January 2015. As such, they’ve decided to lock in on a date in May for the release.
For those of you who don’t know, Bombay Velvet is a Phantom Films and Fox Star Studios collaboration, which tells the story of a boxer (played by Ranbir) and a jazz singer (Anushka). The film also stars Raveena Tandon, Karan Johar (his first proper acting stint), Kay Kay Menon and more.
What are your thoughts about the Bombay Velvet delay? We were looking forward to this flick, but it’s at least good to know that they’ll be putting in the required amount of time to get it just right, instead of doing a rushed job to make their release date deadline.
