Certain styles never die and if they do, they make a strong comeback. Today on BandraRoad, we’re talking watches. While watch-makers introduce a ton of new designs with modern features to keep the beat with changing times, here are 5 old-school wrist-watches that we absolutely love! They may not have those modern fancy features that we’re used to today, but they still can add that bad-ass element to your look.
The pocket watch
They were popular in the 15th and 16th century. The Pocket Watch could be strapped to your wrist or clipped to the trench coat or belt loops on trousers. Back in the day, it was one of the only portable and convenient time-telling devices, but today, they are a piece of history and timeless style.
You may still find them at old watch shops and vintage stores.
The Casio metal strap
These metal strap watches by Casio are making a huge comeback. But for us, they never really lost their shiny charm. In fact, I have seen a few kids sporting these on and off. They’re a fun way to add some bling to your casual day look.
They’re available in gold, silver and black chrome too!
The Leather strap
They were are classy and now are vintage royalty. In fact, you could spot them on Don Draper of Mad Men too. On BandraRoad, we love these old school tan leather straps. Try teaming them with a pair of classic white shirt, torn jeans and some strap flats.
If you’re looking to find them, they’re still available in modern styles online and at popular watch stores. But you could find vintage styles at thrift stores and old watch shops.
The CALCULATOR watch
I know, I desperately wanted these as a kid. I made all sorts of excuses to get one from my folks. As electronics went digital, these calculator watches were the coolest gizmos to hit the market in the 80’s. Today, they’re one of those vintage geek-chic goodies!
Though you could spot these online, we’re on the look out to find them on the road. Do tell us if you spot them. In fact, send us a picture and details on bandraroad@gmail.com or simple #BandraRoad on social media.
The G-Shock
I had these and in fun colours! They were launched as super-watches. Water-resistant and durable, their sporty look made them perfect for athletes and street style junkies.
You can still find versions of these at popular watch shops.
Tell us if you owned any of these styles and maybe a fun story about them. In fact, we’re on a hunt to collect them all! Email us a picture of you wearing your favourite watch in a cool look on bandraroad@gmail or you could share it on social media by #BandraRoad.
