The third edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) is set to start on 30th October this year and will go on till the 2nd of November. The four day festival is scheduled to take place in the lively, multi-cultural town of McLeodgang in Himachal Pradesh. DIFF, a cutting-edge event in the Himalayas is an intimate film festival, where filmmakers and film lovers from around the world come together to celebrate cinema, in the shadow of the Dhauladhar Mountains.
It will showcase 24 full-length feature films and documentaries, and a selection of short animated films. Filmmakers, film critics and industry personnel have been invited. The highlight of the event, however will be the master classes and workshops by India’s leading animation filmmaker, Gitanjali Rao, who will also present her new film, True Love Story, and curate some animated films from around the world. A special screening will also be held for new, Indian short films curated by Marathi filmmaker Umesh Kulkarni.
The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts will host a food, arts and crafts fair during the festival. DIFF has also come up with a special Outreach Programme for schools and colleges to ensure that they get involved with the festival. It has also initiated the DIFF Film Fellows Programme, where five young filmmakers from the Himalayan region will be selected to attend the festival, where they can participate in the master classes and workshops, and have one-on-one tutoring sessions with visiting filmmakers.
