Ever since Preity Zinta first filed a case against Ness Wadia for abuse, there has been a lot said about the entire situation. Many people started discussing that she was doing this out of jealousy, or for money and publicity. From the looks of it, the actress is fed up with all the talk and therefore has released a rather lengthy statement where she discusses each of the points people have brought up, and given a clarification for them. We’ve broken the statement down for you so you can read up on her key points.
1. Why did she report a personal matter to the police?
According to Preity, it wasn’t a personal matter since it’s been six years since they broke up – she was the one to end the relationship – so it’s no longer “personal.”
2. Is this for money?
Preity clarifies that she started the IPL project, and paid 5 crores for herself and another 5 crores for Ness (which he repaid, without interest, within a few months). She also said she doesn’t take anything from anyone since she’s self-made, and has in fact helped him out by doing the GoAir commercial for free and donating the money she won from Kaun Banega Crorepati to the Wadia Children Hospital.
3. Is this for publicity?
She called this “cheap publicity” and said no one would want to be involved in something that’s more humiliating than something to be proud of. She also said she doesn’t need publicity, since she’s been in the industry since ’98 and has won everything from best actress to a bravery award.
4. Why did she go to the US immediately afterwards?
She said she had to do so for professional reasons, and had committed to doing so prior to anything. She came back because the police asked her to provide clarifications.
5. Was there any fight for seats?
There are reports that this fight started because Preity and her crew took up the majority of the seats and didn’t allow Wadia’s mother to sit. She, however, says that they took up 6 seats, when there were 85 seats total. She also says she would never disrespect someone’s mother.
6. Why did she file an F.I.R.?
She could not tolerate aggressive behaviour, and felt that she had no other option but to lodge a complaint since she had already given several warnings.
7. Is she jealous?
Preity claims she has moved on and is happy, so no.
8. What’s the underworld connection?
Apparently, an underworld don has been calling the Wadias and telling them to stop harassing Preity. She, however, says that she’s clueless about the situation and is a spectator like everyone else.
9. What is her motive?
She only wants to protect herself and fight for herself, not harm anyone.
10. What does she want now?
People to have patience until all the facts come out, since the matter is under police investigation. She also says that she doesn’t lie and this is not a frivolous matter.
