Fans of the Transformers will get their first officially look at Transformers: Age Of Extinction this Friday, the 27th of June. Starring, Mark Wahlberg and your favourite Autobots and those love-to-hate Decepticons, I am pretty excited get a taste of the story now that “The Rules Have Changed!”
For new & old fans of the franchise, here are 7 fun facts around the Transformers!
1. Simpson as Transformers
Yup, the Simpsons family featured as Transformers in one of their infamous show intros!
2. And Family Guy too!
Peter Griffin compares his dog and best friend, Brian’s negative attitude to Negatron, the always negative Decepticon. Negatron is purely a Family Guy creation and isn’t a true Transformer. Nonetheless, the character transforms into a canoe which is pretty hilarious!
3. The Voice Of Optimus Prime
From the original cast of Transformers in 1984, Peter Cullen has been the voice that features in the last 4 Transformer flicks, the video games, short films and TV series. Phew!
Interestingly, young Peter Cullen looks a lot like Shia LeBeouf who plays Sam Witwicky in Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (2009) and Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (2011). Here’s a picture of Cullen in High school posted by Reddit!
4. Maggie Wanted peace
The stunner from down under, Rachael Taylor who played the role of a hacker/computer genius in Transformers, did not return to the sequel. Why? The reason that Taylor gives is that she wasn’t contracted for more than one movie and that, in her opinion, her character would not “fit into” the story of a sequel. In fact, there are a few forums that also talk of the actress’s pacifist side and how she may have not been that enthusiastic about starring in what was fundamentally a war-themed film.
5. Mikaela Banes = Michael Bay
Trivia websites have pointed out the similarity between the names of the character Mikaela Banes played by Megan Fox and Transformer director, Michael Bay.
6. Authentic Army Toys
In an attempt to keep the film realistic and under budget, the U.S. Department of Defence provided their support towards the franchise. They provided material for authentic army uniforms to even having soldier play extras in the films! The Military also provided their vehicles as the alternate modes of the Decepticons, Starscream and Bonecrusher and, of course, their F-22 and CV-22 aircrafts were also filmed.
7. Skrillex on the soundtrack for TRANSFORMERS: Age Of Extinction
Finally, bass, dubstep and electronic musician, Skrillex officially appears on the soundtrack for a Transformers flick! He described his tunes for the movie as some of the ‘craziest sounds’ he’s made. Yay!
What does it really sound like? We’ll have to wait for it. Till then, here’s the trailer from Transformers: Age Of Extinctions
