I can’t believe it’s already been a whole year since the last GQ India Best Dressed party! Time really DOES fly when you’re having fun eh? 🙂 And I figured since Doctor Closet has already decoded the fashion (and Zina took no prisoners with a full report on the men’s style – good, bad & ugly) why don’t I give you a fly-on-the-wall peek at all the shenanigans INSIDE the party just like I did last year. Ready? Here we go!
PS. This year the venue shifted to the grand ballroom at the Palladium Hotel which was quite a refreshing change. Watch out for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 coming soon too at Palladium Hotel from August 20th to the 24th? I’ll Google hangout you later 😛
1. Miss Maleficent!
Since MAC released a limited edition makeup range for Disney’s most iconic villain this summer, I was super excited to try it out. Smashh the Salon’s Sarika Motiani gave me wearable Maleficent eyes and lips, with some serious contouring using the wickedly gorgeous MAC collection (beauty school “how to” video coming soon!)
Sushil Charles designed my “romance balance” hair do. Which was his contemporary take on a vintage style – kinda like a gossip girl twist on the Great Gatsby!
My stylist Marv D’Souza selected a dress from AND by Anita Dongre and paired that with Sarika’s bling from Smashh. You like? 🙂
Psst! My boy cleans up real good too, see? 🙂
2. Take a Bow, Boys
We at MissMalini love our fashion forward boys. So imagine my delight when my friend Sid Shah turned up in an SS Homme wooden bow-tie!
(In fact I spotted some spectacular bow-ties at GQ all through the night on Neil Nitin, Mukesh, Rahul Khanna, Arjun Khanna, Troy Costa, Acquin Pais and this delightful one on Nikhil Mehra (from Shantanu & Nikhil)!
I mean just LOOK at this smiling bow-tie clad cutie RK, awwww! 🙂
Psst, Sid was so set on getting his look just right that he made us stop at Zara on the way so he could ditch his Pumas and pick up some brown Oxfords to match his suit 🙂 #SheerStyle
3. GQ gets #geekchic
Since I’m a social media junkie it delights me to no end when I see hashtag branding! No, really, it does.
These coasters, the stage, that media screen – I Like, I Like!
4. SELFIE TIME!
And speaking of geek chic, look who took a selfie together? Rahul Khanna and Sheetal Malhar!
I managed to catch them in action from across the bar and then got a hold of the picture they took too – just for you 🙂
5. Tomboy Hotties!
These girls are generally known for their tomboy style and hipster attitude. So it was really nice to see them dressed to the nines for GQ’s most stylish night!
Kiran Rao‘s Mad Men inspired dress, Bandana Tewari’s bling-bling hot pants, Anushka Manshanda‘s drool-worthy Anand Bhusha teddy….
…and Erika Packard in a va va voom crop top and high-waisted pencil skirt! Red hot and sizzling, donchya think boys?!
6. Helmet Head!
No one quite knows what the gimmick behind this guy is, but the Daft Punk inspired head gear was a big photo-bombing hit! (If you wanna hazard a guess, click here!)
He was sweet actually and after I took his photo with him, he grabbed my pink camera and clicked mine. LOL!
Psst! He’s been around for a while apparently and my next mission will now have to be to find out who’s under that helmet!
7. Bodacious bandana!
I love that Che Kurrien & Bandana Tewari were the first ones on the dance floor when a surprise DJ came on to spin.
I also love that Bandana makes absolutely no bones about repeating her clothes and breaks out her badass bling shorts whenever her little heart desires! #ItsCoolToRepeat remember?
8. Bollywood BFFS!
You know that Karan Johar and Anaita Shroff Adajania go waaaaaayyy back right? (Like DDLJ way back!)
So it was no surprise then, to see them together for the most part of the night. 🙂 They even smiled sweetly for me when I ran into them by the bar!
9. My Peeps!
Speaking of BFFs, Mine are back and on Baby # 3!
Parul Kakad (who is also my hot mamma blogger) looked absolutely adorable 6 months pregnant in her champagne cocktail dress with her hero Hiren Kakad to match 🙂
Obviously the drinks were off limits but she was pretty happy with the yummy dessert selection!
10. Swizzle Me This…
The Grey Goose bar had a selection of yummy cocktails and my fave was the green punch with a hint of absinthe. I also loved the spritzers served up in champagne flutes and signature swizzle sticks!
(Damn I meant to steal a few of those and totally forgot!) Didjya know I collect swizzle sticks? True story.
11. Good Evening Mr. Bedi.
We stepped out on the terrance and bumped into Suki Dusanj and Kabir Bedi.
I particularly enjoyed discussing the FIFA World Cup 2014 with him cos he gave me some gossip that JLo had pulled out of the performance just days before it happened (hence the Brazilian clone on stage!) and that Belgium was the dark horse team to watch. Also whenever I see Kabir Bedi I immediately think of these two things.
#A
#B
Go ahead, judge me.
12. DJ Kapoor
The funniest thing happened to me somewhere towards the end of the night… First Che told me to stick around for a special surprise and then I walked into the ballroom and heard “now welcome DJ Shahid Kapoor on deck!” I immediately turned to Nowshad and said, “OMG how funny that there is a DJ named Shahid Kapoor!” and he was like “Um no, that really IS Shahid Kapoor.”
*LOL* ONLY at a GQ party I tell ya!
So there you have it! Another epic and fabulously fashionable night, can’t wait for next year! 🙂 xoxo
