Hello again from the wonderful world of Oz – #thisisqueensland! So here’s where I am as I type, incase you happen to have missed my updates on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, FourSquare, Pinterest and… you get the picture, right? 🙂
qualia resort, which sits nestled in the northern-most tip of Hamilton Island, surrounded by the unsurpassed beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, is quite possibly the most beautiful luxury resort I have ever been to in my LIFE! (In fact the only other place that probably even comes close, is the Matakauri Lodge we stayed at on our honeymoon in Queenstown, New Zealand.) Well if it’s good enough for Oprah & the Jolie-Pitts…! (That’s right, these are just some of qualia’s celebrity guests, in fact Brangalina were here for some down time together recently while Angie was shooting for her film Unbroken.)
qualia is just one of those places that you want to check into – FOREVER.
Aside from an insanely epic view of the Whitsundays passage (from practically every window in our pavilion) the resort itself exudes an air of tranquility that gives your eyes an automatic (and probably much needed) “nature fix” from the moment you walk in.
Did I mention the wallaby that hopped up to greet me as soon as we arrived? No way they could have staged that!
And mega highlight – our pavilion number 23 was super luxurious but still so cosy….
Don’t take my word for it, feast your eyes on THIS!
PAVILION # 23
What sealed the deal of course was the attached private infinity lap pool set at 28 degrees for a 24-hour dip! Dear universe, you are much too kind.
Also imagine blogging to THIS view every evening! #BloggerBliss
And waking up to an epic view of the Whitsundays passage!
Oh and you want to see something trés #geekchic? qualia offers you complimentary access to all their magazines and newspapers directly to your device! #SavingTreesBonus
THE SPA
The brochure defines qualia as “a collection of deeper sensory experiences.” And we couldn’t agree more. We spent two hours at the qualia spa indulging in the couples “sweet moments” treatment.
I know, I know, mushy much? But who can resist an aromatic chocolate foaming bath and sweet chocolate spice massage, complete with a drifting scalp massage and grounding foot massage?
Exactly. Plus their robes are SO soft, it kinda feels like what I imagine being hugged by a koala bear would be like 🙂
All this I’m told, helps to refresh, rejuvenate and adjust you to “island time” – also known as toe-tal relaxation…
…GET IT, GET IT?! 🙂
They also offer complimentary morning yoga as a journey of introspection, but since we’re both such night owls we ended up blogging and watching one of their 130+ movies on our flat screen TV till way too late each night instead! Besides, you’d have to be totally insane to want to leave this room unless you absolutely have to.
For the few times we did venture out for meals, the spa and pool time at pebble beach, this is how we rolled… (and ok, I’ll ADMIT IT, I kinda wanted to take my #BandraRoad neon cullots and pink hat out for a spin!)
THE POOL & PEBBLE BEACH!
Nowshad of course ordered us the charcuterie plate, which was just delicious!
I insisted on the club sandwich. I’m one of those people who HAS to have a club sandwich at every hotel I’m in. Consider it comfort food 🙂 this one was deffy in my top 10 yummiest!
When we got back to our pavilion I did another video tour in my PJs just because we STILL couldn’t get over how awesome the room is and turn down service brought us a little memory of home – made right here in Oz! Drishti FYI means “pure-seeing” 🙂
WATCH MY TOUR!
So it’s our last night here and I KNOW I’m going to have to drag Nowshad out kicking and screaming, luckily we have more Queensland adventures ahead so no tears. (I hope.) Oh, and one last props to the yummy “Cleopatra’s champagne” tea bags that kept me company blogging tonight 🙂
Honeymooners and holiday-makers alike, if you can make it happen, we would 100% recommend a stay at qualia resort (deets here) on Hamilton Island. The rooms, service and ocean-view all thoroughly exceeded our expectations and will remain in our memory long after we make our way back to Bombay. As Nowshad said, if he could build his dream apartment (on the water) THIS is exactly what it would look like! xoxo
