On Saturday, Team MissMalini made their way to Bandra fort for the Mumbai edition of the YouTube FanFest. For the uninitiated, favourite YouTube creators from around the world popular with Indians came together on one stage for their fans. Team MissMalini had a blast and here are the 5 things we loved:
IISUPERWOMANII
We got to see ||Superwoman|| aka Lily Singh in the flesh! For a regular person, that may not be such a big deal. But this 25 year old YouTuber has over 2 million subscribers on her channel, makes the funniest videos and was even invited by Shah Rukh Khan himself to chill at his house/Mannat. Now you know she’s cool, right?
When Lily Singh came on stage, the crowd went crazy. They gave her a standing ovation and couldn’t stop cheering and hooting for almost a minute. That is some popularity.
We actually got to meet her up, close and personal at the Meet & Greet earlier in the day.
Even though there were more than 50 of us waiting in queue to meet her, she hugged every fan, took a picture, made a funny face, autographed their cards and accepted the gifts everyone had brought for her. She was so humble and down-to-earth and appreciative, it made our day.
Of course, while she was here, she made some collaboration videos with Madhuri Dixit Nene and the All India Bakchod boys. Check them out:
Now that I’m done sharing my love for Superwoman, let me tell you about the other things we loved.
The AIB boys
The All India Bakchod boys are absolutely hilarious. After opening the YouTube FanFest for the audience, they introduced all the creators and had really funny interactions with them.
Shah Rukh Khan came for it!
You know it’s not an average Joe fest when Shah Rukh Khan decides to make an appearance. We loved that he made a no frills entrance. Of course, the crowd went berserk and kept cheering until he settled down.
He even waited until the end of the fest to go up on stage and pose for pictures with all the YouTube creators. That’s why we love King Khan.
Varun Dhawan and his moves
Everyone’s current heart-throb Varun Dhawan was at the YouTube FanFest to promote his upcoming film, Main Tera Hero. When he was one stage, he very sweetly declared that he may have played a pretty boy in his last film but he’s actually quite a macho guy. He did a headstand and invited girls and boys from the audience to give them a dance lesson.
He almost also spilled the beans on Rohan Joshi‘s girlfriend. She happens to be Alia Bhatt‘s older sister, Shaheen Bhatt. Sorry, girls!
The organisation and the event itself
It was a really well-organised event and I think everyone got an opportunity to see their favourite YouTube creator in person. The performances and collaborations were an amazing mix of creativity and energy. Cheers YouTube India!
