There are few jewellery designers in India that have created such an impact as Nitya Arora. Arora decided to use her fashion presentation at LFW to create a statement – that of same love in support of her friends who belonged to the LGBT community. The show kicked off with a short fashion film called Juliet loves Juliette. Soon “couple” models walked down with some delectable baubles. Against the pale, pastel shades of garments (with a sprinkling of black) – the high shine jewellery stood out. Unisex brooches were turned into medal necklaces, while ear cuffs, head gears and tassels became multi-functional accessories.
Nishka Lulla:
Nishka Lulla’s easy, breezy collection hit all the right notes for summer. Titled Flyaway Flyaway, it comprised of muted shades of blue, greys and sandy golds. Inspired by earthy elements such as gravel (!) the bougainvillea blooms and snow, rather abstract – but translated well onto the garments. Sheer organza overlays over bralettes, bermuda shorts and jumpsuits were perfect for the globetrotter woman who wants fuss-free clothing.
