There isn’t a piece of garment that is as timeless or versatile as the sari. And Mandira Bedi‘s powerful Lakme Fashion Week show just emphasized that and more! 9 strong women walked the show alongside fashion models to a soundtrack that signified, ‘Girl Power!’ Here are the 9 women from the show in the looks we loved!
The Women:
Dr. Jamuna Pai is the Founder and Chairperson of Blush Clinics and known as the Pioneer of Cosmetology in India. She walked the runway in a lush pink sari with ornate gold work and a striped border in gold and orange.
Dr. Kiran Coelho is a gynecologist and obstetrician, and head of the Departments at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. She walked in a gorgeous electric blue with sky blue blocked sari with a gold border and a statement neck-piece with thick gold beads.
Mrunalini Deshmukh is a renowned matrimonial lawyer and has handled numerous high-profile cases in India, dealing with divorce and ancillary issues of custody and maintenance. She wore a similar sari to Dr. Kiran Coelho with a slight textured twist on the gold borders.
Schauna Chauhan is the CEO at Parle Agro and the eldest daughter of its founder, Prakash Chauhan. In her pink sari with gold and see through paneled border, Schauna worked the look with her tres chic bob!
Pooja Makhija is a nutritionist & clinical dietitian and a celebrity food guru! She glided down the ramp in a electric blue net sari with a gold and net paneled pallo! Her look was styled with a sleek up-do, a pair of ornate drop earrings and a thick gold cuff.
Our very own Blogger-In-Chief, MissMalini walked the runway in a vibrate blue satin sari with gold and net paneled border and rustic earrings.
Yasmin Karachiwala is a celebrity fitness trainer and the force behind the bodies of Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan and Deepika Padukone in Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela. The sheer panels of the orange and pink in the colour blocked sari was perfect for Yasmin to show off her toned abs!
Shaheen Abbas is a jewelry designer at her own company, Shaheen Abbas, Flower Child. Her look for the show had the sari draped in an alternate front pallo fashion, and sexy halter strap on the blouse (The kind of statement Mandira is known for!)
Madira’s mom, Gita Bedi brought the show to a big finish. She stood at the head ramp looking radiantly proud in a shaded pink bleeding into purple sari with some glittering textured border. And we loved her super chic salt and pepper bob!
Mandira took a bow looking strong and powerful in a black paneled tube with a sheer back! Wanna see all the looks from the show? Click here!
