So I went to the most epic gig tonight at Mehboob studio all thanks to Neysa Mendes from Little Big Noise and now my mind is blown! I’ve always been an enthu-cutlet supporter of the Indie music scene and I’ve seen them play their hearts out on rooftops (remember Daddy’s Windsong Wednesdays?!) and festivals – but this was something else!
First up the stage was INCREDIBLE – it was actually set up to look like a super funky house party (the kind that only musicians get invited to!) and the whole two level stage thing was a brilliant visual experience especially when two different artists were jamming together. My favorite moment was when Ankur Tewari came out to bang some drums for Raghu Dixit 🙂
WATCH!
I didn’t catch all the acts, but the ones I did were all pretty awesome. Karsh Kale, Tough on Tobacco, Ankur Tewari and the Galat Family, Rabbi Shergil, Bombay Bassment, Vice Versa, Raghu Dixit Project & Vishal Dadlani.
I also love that Raghu Dixit took the time to share his unbelievable journey. How he was jamming at Zenzi Bandra back in the day – for what he thought was the last time – when Vishal & Shekar happened to be in the audience and the rest is history!
I’m a HUGE fan of his tunes and the fact that his band jams barefoot with bells on 🙂
Plus the whole place was full of kitschy Bombay humour AND drenched in my favorite color… PINK! What’s not to love?
Als gotta love the random security guard who unknowingly photo-bombed my picture! #thatsmybodyguard
How cute were all their signs btw?! This one for the bathroom was especially brilliant – did someone say Genesis throwback?
Plus there was a Twitter wall and you know how much I love that sort of thing!
PS. I do believe this might be Rabbi Shergil’s ride! I’m a big fan and my fave track of all time = Teri Bin 🙂
Oh and my favorite Insta-click of the night: Vishal getting cosy 🙂
Massive props to Pepsi and MTV for launching a 24-hour Indie music channel. I hope it does fabulously because boy has the talent earned it! xoxo
