Young designers Masaba Gupta (known for her funky prints) and Nitya Arora (known for her statement jewelry) have joined hands and jointly opened a boutique in Mumbai’s famed art district, Kala Ghoda.
Masaba, an award winning designer who has dressed a number of Bollywood personalities like Sonam Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernendez, says, “I have picked out an eclectic mix of pieces for the new store. These include my signature prints which I have specially put together for the South Bombay crowd.”
As for Nitya, she’s known more famously for her label, Valliyan. Her funky line of unconventional accessory designs has won the Grazia Young Designers Award 2012 and Elle Magazine Award 2013 for the best jewelry label. In fact, her conversation pieces are worn regularly by the likes of Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, to name a few.
Hailing from New Delhi, Nitya says, “I always wanted my own shop in Bombay and had been looking for a space in Kala Ghoda since it is the art district in Mumbai. And each piece of accessory I design is like a work of art.”
The event was attended by celebs like Tisca Chopra, Shazahn Padamsee, Shaheen Abbas, Priya Kataria Puri, Poorna Jagannathan and Ramona Arena.
