Michelle Salins’ multi-cultural upbringing and influences will hit the stage at Bangalore Fashion Week tonight. Salins spent considerable time in New York after being born in India to her Indian father and Scottish mother. These influences can be seen in the young designer’s aesthetic and design sensibilities. Currently retailing in the United States, Salins’ designs are often seen at MET Galas and Hollywood premieres, and tonight at 8pm Michelle’s sring/summer 2014 hits the Indian ramp.
Aimed at women who like to have fun in the sun, the inspiration comes from the crystal blue skies of Californian sky, and white sandy beaches… a modern take on the porcelain motifs that Salins spotted in Germany. The silhouettes are reflective of California’s sleek & chic style – let’s have a look!
The collection features sheath dresses, and colourful column dresses, made from silks and cottons, as well as outfits in georgette, pleated chiffon and soft cottons. Silk organza gives a luxurious feel to the collection.
The colour palette ranges from exotic yellows, oranges and bougainvillea pinks, all in a floral print. The camellia flower print is the stand out for this collection, with the blue hues giving a perfect resort feel.
The second half of the collection features lace work, and is decidedly more flirty and romantic. Deep emeralds, reds and whites will be the dominant colours here.
