Bollywood’s current blue-eyed boy, Ranbir Kapoor, just bagged himself another endorsement deal! He will now be seen promoting everyone’s favourite potato chips brand, Lay’s, as part of a special campaign that focuses on friendship. The brand just released a new teaser from this campaign, featuring Ranbir (as Sid), Saqib Saleem (as Raghav), Varun Mitra (as Veer), Saba Azad (as Sushi), and Pooja Hegde (as Kaira). Check out the video and let us know what you think of it!
Each member of this gang has a distinct personality, and together they make for a group that youngsters would want to be part of. Sid leads the group with his loveable, rascal-like qualities. Kaira is the sexy and stylish diva of the group, who may just end up becoming Sid’s love interest in the future. Veer, meanwhile, is the macho stud who believes that nothing (not even girls) can compare with the high that sports can give you. Sushi is the tomboy of the group. Then there’s Ragz, the small town boy who is also the token ‘tech junkie’ of the group. Together, they make up the ‘Best Buddies’ – a group that most bunches of friends in colleges across India would aspire to be like.
Wondering why they picked Ranbir for the campaign? Gaurav Mehta (the Category Director – Western Category, PepsiCo India, Foods) says that he reflects the “modern, aspirational and youthful” persona of the brand and its consumers. Mr Mehta also believes that Ranbir embodies the brand philosophy of “Pal banaye magical,” as an individual who “seeks joy and magic in the ordinary.”
On his part, Ranbir says:
“Lay’s is one of the brands I have grown up with! It is such a popular & universally loved brand and I am excited to be associated with Lay’s. As a brand, Lay’s stands for youthfulness & spontaneity and seeking simple joys in life’s ordinary moments. Lay’s belief of ‘Pal Banaye Magical’, which has always celebrated the joy in life’s little moments – is something I can identify with and I genuinely believe that many a magical moment is hidden in life’s ordinary, spontaneous moments. I am excited to work with the brand and look forward to a great journey ahead.”
And for those wondering – Saif Ali Khan will continue to endorse Lay’s, even though Ranbir is the face of this particular campaign.
What do you think of the new video and this funtastic 5? We like the young, vibrant cast!
