Unfortunately, filmmaker Nikhil Advani isn’t ending 2013 on the note that he would have probably liked to. The writer/director (who has films like D-Day and Kal Ho Naa Ho to his name), was hospitalised a few days ago following a severe reaction to some medication he had taken. He was quickly admitted to the ICU at Lilavati hospital, and has been receiving treatment since. Thankfully, he is out of danger and it seems like he is doing much better now. His sister, Monisha Advani, released a statement to the media thanking everyone for their concern and confirming that Nikhil’s health is improving. Here’s her statement in full.
Thanks for your concern for Nikhil’s health. Few days ago while traveling, he developed a reaction to a medication to treat his sinus. This resulted in palpitations, allergies and fever. The medical staff at Lilavati responded swiftly and placed him in the ICU for recovery. He has responded very well and should be moved to a normal room in twenty four hours. We expect him to be discharged later this week. He will need to rest and recoup but will be back to his normal self to take on 2014! Thanks once again. – Monisha Advani.
We’re glad to hear that he is doing better now and will be shifted out of the ICU soon. Here’s wishing Nikhil a super speedy recovery and a good year at the movies in 2014.
