She is baaack! *cue In My City* Priyanka Chopra has been out of the city – country, really – for a while now, as she was vacationing with her family. It’s been a long time coming, too: the actress has barely taken a break over the past few years, since she has always been very busy with work. This year has been especially difficult for her with the loss of her father. After battling cancer for quite some time, Dr Ashok Chopra passed away in June of this year, and since then PC has thrown herself into work completely – be it shooting, film promotions, or her constant trips back and forth from LA, as part of the work for her music album.
On The Front Row, the actress explained why started working right away after her father’s death:
“I think it’s escapism. I don’t think it’s strength and I think that maybe I should have taken the time to deal with it. I think I wanted to run away from dealing with it and I did. I started work four days later, one – because my Dad hated me sitting at home, and second – I would have lost my mind if I did. Losing my father was not just losing my Dad; it was losing a part of me. I don’t know if every daughter is that close to her father as I was. My Dad was my best friend, my idol and my protector. He was the man of my life so I went back to work because that was my only solace and I haven’t stopped since.”
Thankfully, she did take about two weeks off to spend the holidays with her family, and it looks like she had a fantastic time, full of some sun and sand! Since she’s active on social media, we got a glimpse into her tropical vacation. So in case you missed some of her pictures – or just need to see something calming today – take a look at her lovely photos:
That’s not all… there’s a video too!
I grew up in the Caribbean, so let’s just say that these photos are making me very, very nostalgic – and very jealous – right now! But I’m happy to see that PC took some time off, since she definitely deserved it. The actress is back now and will go straight into work – to kick things off, she’ll be attending a New Year’s Eve event in Chennai. Welcome back to your city, Priyanka!
