Vishal Dadlani and his band, Pentagram, are on this weekend’s episode of MTV Unplugged, and will therefore be singing acoustic versions of some of their more popular songs. The folks over at MTV have released a video of them performing one of their tracks – Nocturne – and well, let’s just say that I’m kind of in love with it. In fact, I like this acoustic version more than their original one, which was part of their 2011 album Bloodywood. Mostly because, through this performance, you can really appreciate what a great voice Vishal has. Definitely check out the video; this is one worth listening to!

The lyrics are great too:

Streets clear up, phones are quiet,
like the calm before a riot,
and through my mind,
no thoughts go rushing.
Space beside me empty,
like the space inside me,
My very nature working to divide me.
Nocturne, Nocturne,
once again the night,
has come and gone,
it’s come and gone again.
Nocturne, Nocturne,
another day, and still i wait alone,
I wait alone again.

And the moon plays shadows,
on the walls of my head,
and the strangest shapes form,
form the words that were said or left unsaid.

And the sea turns to mirror,
and she shows me my face,
and the wind turns in circles,
The ripples, erase every trace.
Nocturne…

And also give the original a listen, in case you haven’t heard it before:

Make sure you catch the entire episode tomorrow night (Saturday) on MTV at 8pm. Not just for Nocturne, but for their other tracks as well – they will also be singing Drive, Human Failings, The Ignorant One, Must I, Tomorrow’s Decided and Voice.

What did you think of the acoustic version of Pentagram‘s Nocturne?
