The fashion industry is often accused of catering only to stick-thin women and models for ad-campaigns. The liberal use of Photoshop on magazine covers coupled with the pressure to look perfect has led to many being jaded about looking good. Dhruv Kapur‘s label DRVV has caught the attention of fashion folk thanks to his gender blurring minimalist designs. For his spring/summer 2014 campaign, he’s decided to do away with models and enlist real women, such as bloggers (yay), stylists and photographers to pout in front of the camera. Those who have got this lucky distinction are, Meghna Bhalla, stylist and fashion consultant, Malini Banerji, Fashion Director at ELLE India, blogger Akanksha Redhu, photographer Nania Redhu and Dilkash Kapur, who is currently a student with JNU.
I love that an Indian designer has decided to use real women and I do hope it starts a trend here in India.
Hats off to you Dhruv!
