Designer Pria Kataria Puri is considered by many to be among India’s most beautiful people but this stunner doesn’t just let her looks do the talking. Apart from shuttling between offices and homes in Kuwait, Delhi and Mumbai, Pria is often seen jet-setting around the world, actively involved with a number of social causes.
Very soon, Pria will be in far away Geneva where she will hold a glittering fashion show to raise funds for India’s under privileged children.
The Heart for India Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by Princess Françoise Sturdza of Romania and they will hold a grand charity event for the third consecutive year to raise money for the economically backward children in India.
Said Pria, “If India has to grow and prosper as a nation, the children – who are the future of the country – need to be taken care of. And I am happy to contribute my share to help the underprivileged children of India.”
Pria will debut on the ramp, a wide range of her signature printed kaftans, bling gowns and flirty dresses. Thirty percent of the proceeds from the sales will go towards the charity.
“Over the past few years, special training programs for young girls have been hugely successful as 95% of the girls following these programs find a good job after their diploma. What’s more, the meal distribution at 4:00 pm everyday helps to keep 95% of the children in school the entire day. Before the nutrition program was created, 60% of the children were leaving school by afternoon to go and work to earn few rupees. This made them skip half the day’s lessons. But with the funds coming in, more programs are being developed to keep children in school,” adds Priya with much pride.
