Mumbai’s fashion frat and many young Bollywood actors got a taste of exotic and authentic Kashmiri food at the opening of Poush, a specialty restaurant at a mall in Kurla.
Om Takoo, the genial entrepreneur who has introduced the flavours of this pristine mountainous region to Mumbai, tells us, “Kashmiri cuisine is an art form! Unlike other northern Indian cuisine that is cooked using onion or garlic based gravies, Kashmiri cuisine avoids onions and garlic and the food is cooked in its own juices. The food usually uses a lot of yogurt, oils and spices such as turmeric, asafoetida, dried ginger, cinnamon and the main ingredient is cooked in its own juices on a low heat which makes the dish rich in taste and exotic in flavor.”
Enjoying the lavish spread were Vishakha Singh, Ramona Arena, Amy Billimoria, Anisa, Achla Sachdev, Nisha Merchant, Riddhi and Siddhi Mapxencar, Vaishali Shandagule, Salim Asgarally, Ashwin and Rebecca Mushran, Ken Ferns, Siddharth Aryan, Sahil Salathia, Maryam Zakaria, Ananya Dutta and Sabina Sheema.
