Nicola Formichetti is best known as Lady Gaga’s stylist. However, he’s been a designer in his own right, first for Mugler and now as newly minted creative director for Diesel. While his first ever collection doesn’t hit the shelves till spring/summer 2014, he has unveiled a capsule line that whets our appetites to see more. He pays tribute to the brand’s DNA via elements sourced from its 35 year old history. Renzo Rossi, owner of Diesel reportedly gave a free reign to Nicola, at the head quarters in Italy. “This collection is my homage to the DNA of Diesel.” “Visiting the Diesel factories in Italy was incredible. The decision to use these found materials from the archive in a new way was immediate. These new, limited edition and artisanal explorations of denim and leather are two very important steps into designing the future of Diesel,” says Formichetti.
