This past Wednesday, 16th Oct 2013, High Street Phoenix celebrated World Food Day in the Courtyard of their mall. They brought together many of our favorite restaurants from around the city to showcase their signature dishes and celebrate food.
World Food Day is celebrated on Oct 16th around the world. It is an anniversary celebration of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, which was founded in 1945.
It was the second year that High Street Phoenix hosted this event and it was a great success. The restaurants participating included Serafina, FoodHall, Dolce Vita, The White Owl, Sancho’s, Wraps & Rolls, Sushi & More, Tea Culture, Café Sundance, Irish House, Asia Seven, Punjab Grill and Brownies by Nima Parekh.
Each restaurant was serving a free sampler portion, along with other main dishes for only Rs. 150 – 200. What a great way to try many different restaurants and cuisines, all in one place!
While I wanted to try something from each stand, my stomach could only fit so much. We sampled main dishes from The White Owl, Sushi & More, Sancho’s and Serafina. My favourites would have to be the Sushi (a perfect snack on such a hot afternoon!) and the chocolate mousse from The White Owl. The mousse was a light and creamy chocolate, with a delicious crunchy cookie base. The Tres Leches from Sancho’s was also a great cool dessert for the hot weather and one of my standard orders from the restaurant.
World Food day at Phoenix mills was a great way to spend the afternoon with the family. My daughter loved running around the courtyard and trying all the delicious dishes. And, I’m always ready for any opportunity to celebrate Food! 🙂
