Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhary took to the ramp at Wills for the first time. Best known for his pac-man print, this time he played with more linear patterns. Sexy cut-out swimsuits, deep, deep necklines and bare backs made a very sexy statement. Vest inspired blouses teamed with saris, tracksuit details and easy styling made sure Yogesh was bang on the sporty trend.
Hemant and Nandita went Daisy Duke meets the country girl. This was a collection full of charm. Full volume skirts, denim shorts, the heart and polka prints gave their designs a very sweet feel. Lace like embroideries and sheers added that feminine feel. Yes, it is time to go girlie!
A love of all things cute continued at Pero’s show. Aneeth Arora, the shy designer, behind this label knows the art of presentation. From the candy on the seats to handing out cup cakes at the end show; she was making no apologies about being adorable. The dotty trend continued and was mixed with checks and sheers whites. Bloomers and bermuda shorts were teamed with flouncy dresses and tops. Beautiful clothes that would probably appeal to the international buyer more than the Indian fashionista assured that Pero continues to be the darling of Indian Fashion. Called a “A Labour of Love”, you could see that Aneeth was in a very enduring mood for spring/summer 2013.
Misses
The weekend schedule of fashion week is filled with young designers and some may need more nurturing before they take to the ramp. Take Ritesh Kumar for example, music that sounded like it belonged in hell teamed with accessories that gagged just spelled gimmicky! Perhaps some mentoring is needed?
