India’s original funny guy, Jaaved Jaaferi, will be seen next in Besharam, which is all set to hit cinemas tomorrow! We caught up with the actor recently to ask him everything about the film – he spoke to us about his character, what it was like working with the Kapoors, and what makes him besharam in particular. We even threw in some Twitter questions and asked him what we can expect next from him (it may not be all acting, by the way). Check out our interview for the full conversation.
Some quotes from our chat:
“My character is someone who doesn’t give a hoot for what is happening. He feels he’s in total control and nobody can touch him in his territory.”
“While I was working with Ranbir, I realised he has a great mind as a director, because he’s actually done filmmaking in New York and he worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an assistant. So his mind is very tuned into filmmaking; he’s not just an actor, he understands the craft of filmmaking, direction, continuity. I was very impressed with him.”
“I think Rishi Kapoor is the best actor in the entire Kapoor clan, right from the beginning till now. I think he’s the best actor they have, because of the kind of variety he’s done. He’s a very natural actor.”
“I never have been much of a besharam. I’m kind of conservative on that level!”
“The film was called Besharam, but everybody was so lovely and so respectful and so caring. The irony was, there wasn’t any besharmi happening.”
“I do plan on directing, yes. I’m looking at next year, hopefully.”
