On Monday, Siddhartha Tytler previewed his collection along with Purnima Jhunjhunwala’s baubles. Sid (as his friends call him) shows at Bridal Asia regularly and it was interesting to see a shift in his collection. He showed the de rigueur anarkalis and lehengas that every bride wants.
But there was also a strong leaning towards glamorous gowns and cocktail dresses. It seems that cocktail couture is now a must in every bride’s wardrobe. This shows a clear shift in how wedding shopping has changed. The cocktail party is now as much a part of Big Fat Indian Wedding as the sangeet, mehendi and wedding ceremony.
Interestingly enough cocktail wear is what most of the women chose to wear to the early evening soiree. Spotted were many of the Capital’s well heeled including Tanisha Mohan, Payal Sen, Sumaya Dalmia and Neha Kapur Nayyar. Former Miss India Neha, who is now married to The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar is back in town for a short visit. As Sid’s muse, it would have been great to see her open or close the show, she still looks every bit a supermodel!
