I heard this bit of news over the weekend and was quite surprised, as you can imagine. Current reports doing the rounds suggest that Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha may work together after three long decades! They were last seen together in 1981 for Silsila alongside Jaya Bachchan, and for obvious reasons, the two have kept a distance since – both on-screen and off. However, if director Anees Bazmee can pull it off, then they may share screen space once again.
He’s considering bringing the two of them together for Welcome Back, the sequel to Welcome. Big B has already been approached to play the role of RDX, which late actor Feroz Khan played in the first part. The makers also say they are considering Rekha for a role of a wealthy lady who will feature in a love triangle with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor‘s characters. Anees believes Rekha would do the role well, but has yet to approach her for it, so of course we’ll have to wait and see.
I don’t know about you, but I remain skeptical. I don’t see this working out at all, especially since Big B hasn’t agreed to the part yet and Rekha hasn’t even been approached for hers. I’m smelling a bit of a PR stunt on the makers’ part, actually. What about you?
