Last evening saw the launch of the new men’s wear collection by Paul Smith for the Autumn/Winter season. Keep an eye out for a series of tee shirts designed by artist Sameer Kulavoor, which feature four prints from his Ghoda Cycle Project. These are a series of illustrations that depict archetypal figures of Mumbai everyday life, each of them dependent on the humble cycle.
Says Sameer, “The Ghoda Cycle Project is my rendition of the myriad avatars of bicycles in the urban and rural landscape of India. The artworks here are not just a depiction of sustainable living but also how a section of the society in India makes a livelihood out of it. The sturdy, durable and heavy iron double-bar and four-bar roadster bicycles are affectionately compared to horses and nicknamed Stallion-cycle (Ghoda Cycle) and hence the name for this project!”
Among the celebrities who came for this wine and cheese preview were Pria Kataria Puri, Atul Kasbekar, Nisha Jhaveri, Pooja Bedi and Tanaz Doshi.
