Rahul Mishra is one of the few designers who never uses a Bollywood show-stopper, or packs the front row of his shows with A-listers. And yet, he always manages to pull in a full house.
For Rahul, the real stars are the clothes on the ramp. Each creation, perfectly hand-crafted, is an heirloom piece and can be considered true couture by any standard.
After a five year break, Rahul mesmerized the fashion press with Sunehri (which means gold or “Just like gold”) – a festive bridal wear offering fashioned from hand looms and featuring with genda, gudhal, mogra and harisringar flower motifs.
Says Rahul, “I wanted to create bridal wear which was simplistic and without the fuss of too much ornamentation. I wanted the colours and fabrics to enhance the appeal of the bride and not let her over-shadowed by kilos of bling!”
While it was hard to choose a favourite from the collection, we particularly loved the eight saris that were paired with stylish blouses and jackets.
