Last week, Bollywood heartthrob Amrita Rao spilled the beans on the biggest lesson she learnt from Shah Rukh Khan and about sustaining her position in the film industry.
This time, in the second (and final) part of her exclusive interview with Team MissMalini, Amrita Rao sheds light on the stars she wants to work with, the low-down on link-ups with co-stars, whether she will give up acting after marriage and if that’s not enough, she even has a special message for all her fans.
Team MissMalini: Who are the actors you would like to work with, who you haven’t shared screen space with before?
Amrita: Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor for sure, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sushant Singh Rajput. I think Ayushmann and Sushant are a great addition to the industry. They are so versatile. And although we’ve seen them before on TV, I think the 70mm screen does total justice to what they are fully capacitated for.
Team MM: How have you avoided link-ups with your co-stars?
Amrita: By not getting in to them (laughs)!! I feel that flaunting a partner or a romantic relationship in the media, to the world, when you are in a profession that is world famous, is the easiest thing to do and obviously, it keeps you in the news, whether you’re working or not working, whether your film is releasing around the corner or whether it is releasing after a year, your link-ups keep you in the news all the time.
But, I feel that somehow, somewhere, the sanctity of that relationship gets a little perturbed and I’ve never believed in that. I also believe that when I get into a relationship, I would like to share it with everybody who has been so loving and wanting to know what has been happening in my life…but at the right stage of the relationship.
I think that is most important – at the right stage! Giving it that importance, giving it that dignity, matters more to me.
Team MM: Would you give up acting after marriage if your husband desired you to do so?
Amrita: I don’t think so. I would obviously communicate to that person and tell him that the demand is not fair to impose that upon me. If I get married to somebody and then I tell them that this is not working and you have to change your profession, it’s difficult to. My talent is acting, I can’t become a doctor overnight or I can’t just decide to write books. I would obviously sit and communicate to him that this is the only thing I have and which I’m proud of and that he can’t take it away from me if he loves me and I hope that he would understand.
Team MM: Any message for your fans?
Amrita: A message to my fans on MissMalini.com is that it’s good to be judgmental but not all the time. And I say this because this is a platform on which a lot of opinions are made minute-by-minute.
One thing which I have learnt in the course of my life is that you’ve got to try your best. But it is humanly and practically impossible to please everybody and have everybody say good things about you. So, whenever I do something – whether it is giving my 100% to my role in a movie or even dressing for an event, I try and put all the energies that come together to make it work and happen, to the best of my ability. And then I do not bother about being judged…!
