On The Front Row tonight, Anupama Chopra interviews Amitabh Bachchan and asks him about a funny story that Karan Johar had told once, about fainting on the sets while directing him for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Turns out, the story is not altogether accurate, so Big B sets the record straight and talks about what actually happened on sets. Read on for the excerpt and make sure to catch the episode on Star World tonight!
Anupama: Karan Johar tells this wonderful story about you. The first day he directed you on the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, he said he was so stressed out at the idea that he fainted. And when he recovered, you were sitting in front of him and you said, “Don’t worry Karan. I will dance well.” As an actor, how do you function when your directors are passing out on sets by your sheer presence?
Amitabh: There is a great amount of untruth in this story. He had very high temperature which he had been nursing for many days before the shoot schedule. It was exhaustion from the temperature. It wasn’t anything to do with me or the fact that he was directing me. And we were just kidding with him when he was lying down in the make-up room and all kinds of medication were being given to him and saying, “We will do whatever you will ask us to do. Just get up and get to work.”
