Like him, love him, detest him….or simply ignore him. But whatever it is that you feel for him, Imam Siddique is here to conquer your TV screen yet again with a fun new show on MTV called Timeout With Imam.
His larger than life character is not for the faint-hearted and Imam (who dresses to kill – literally) tells us what to look forward to in the show which premieres on July 14th 2013.
Listen in:
Team MM: What is Timeout With Imam about?
Imam: The show is about Me, Myself and I. It’s about my eccentricities, my idiosyncracies, my unreal aspirations and ambitions. It’s about me basically. I play myself with various degrees of expression.
Team MM: Have you changed after your stint in Bigg Boss?
Imam: Yes, I certainly hope so, for the better. I realized two things after my Bigg Boss experience. I did not know that I had that much of patience in dealing with incompetent idiots and I did not realize that I had the perseverance to last as long as I did. So this has taught me to be a better human being (I hope) and to be more patient with people – especially when I’m interacting with the media (like now)!
Team MM: Have you made up with Salman Khan post Bigg Boss?
Imam: Salman Khan and I go back thirty years. We are not best of friends but we are social acquaintances. What happened with Salman was a misunderstanding for which I also apologized. Knowing the kind of person Salman is, I don’t think there is any ill-feeling or grudge. It’s over man. We’re both professionals, we’re both mature…we’ve moved on.
And I’d like to say – Salmanbhai, if any of your entourage is watching this, good luck and Ramzan Mubarak.
Team MM: Do you have any Bollywood plans?
Imam: I have a very interesting relationship with Bollywood since I’ve been in advertising for the past thirty-one years. Bollywood has always approached me but sadly for Bollywood, they’ve always wanted to cast me as a stereotype. I don’t subscribe to that notion at all. So I’ve decided that I will get in to Bollywood but this time, on my terms. I’m not going to go there and play anything that they want me to play.
I will make sure that I get three things at the time of the project: First, I want a synopsis of the story-line along with a hardbound script which is recognized by IMPAA. The second – I want a psychological break-up of the character. And thirdly, I want a production break-up because I don’t have the time to take on random dates.
Finally, any message for our viewers?
Imam: Please do yourselves a favour – save lives, save water. And most importantly, don’t Whatsapp, don’t text, don’t take that call when you’re driving or riding because it could cause you the loss of your life. I beg you, don’t do it.
