Designer Manish Malhotra is one busy couturier. If opening Lakme Fashion Week later this month is not enough of a feather in his cap, Manish will also be closing the Delhi Couture Week on the 4th of August, as the grand finale.
According to the press note, Manish’s collection will be inspired by the princely states of India in the 1930s. “It will be an old-world mix of traditional Indian motifs and the influences of British culture on the affluent Indian lifestyle,” says Manish.
While the silhouettes and embroidery echo the splendour of Indian and European architecture by striking a unique balance between traditional Indian motifs and the classic minimalism of the West, the collection will include saris, lehengas and lehenga-anarkalis.
Look out for a vibrant colour palette which will include saturated shades and tints of red, royal blue, mustard, olive, beige and ochre – all of which add to the vintage appeal of the outfits.
