This has gotta be a compliment of epic proportions for Akshay Kumar! Apparently, Al Pacino saw the promo of Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai that featured Akshay’s villainous character, Shoaib, and was immediately reminded of his Godfather days!
During an informal discussion, Pacino’s business associate Barry Navidi showed him the trailer of the film, which got Pacino reminiscing about The Godfather.
Al Pacino says:
“My friend Barry Navidi showed me a promo for an Indian film with Akshay Kumar. It brought some fond memories back from my Godfather days.”
Akki, for obvious reasons, was quite touched by the gesture, especially considering that he’s a fan of the actor.
Akshay Kumar says:
“A touch of appreciation is always held dearly in an actor’s arms, even if it’s from the simplest of people like our beloved spot boys. But to have your work spoken of so kindly by the world’s most admired gangster Al Pacino himself – I had goose-bumps thinking about him watching the promo! I was so humbled, not only as an actor but as a fan of his legendary work. I pray he enjoys the final piece as much as he enjoyed the promo!”
Looks like someone’s going to be on cloud 9 for a while!
