The capital’s chicest concept store, Moonriver is celebrating its tenth year in the business and is going through a facelift of sorts.
They will be unveiling their new International Fashion floor where brands such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Marni and Zadig and Voltaire will be available and their topmost floor will house Abraham and Thakore’s concept store.
They have also introduced the concept of a monthly salon involving – book readings, film screenings, art workshops and pop up shops adding a real Lifestyle element to the store. This Sunday was all about Diana Vreeland. The ultimate style icon, Vreeland was an editor with Harper’s Bazaar for 25 years before becoming Editor in chief of Vogue and then went on to be a consultant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Her ideas are still an inspiration to all of us in fashion. Which is why when Moonriver’s Radhika Gupta asked me to host a salon, I decided to do a viewing of the docu-film, “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel”. As she said, “Style is everything” Style is a way of life, without it, you’re nothing.”
The film played to a packed house — there was Fashion Design Council of India’s President Sunil Sethi, designers Masaba Gupta, Ruchika Sachdev, Payal Pratap, Shivan and Narresh, David Abraham, Anupama Dayal, Rakesh Thakore, Anand Bushan as well as style mavericks Edward Lalrempuria and Jivi Sethi.
After the inspirational movie everyone enjoyed a glass of sparkly and some canapés while previewing the International Fashion Floor at Moonriver.—and most agreed that this film was an inspiring away to start the week.
As Masaba said, “Events are normally about drinks and socializing. This was different as you really learnt a lot from this film.”
It seems like the fashion industry in the capital may have been looking for more than just another party!
