In what can only be described as a huge loss to Indian (and especially Bengali) cinema, film-maker Rituparno Ghosh passed away in Kolkata early this morning of a massive heart-attack. Sources also have it that he suffered from diabetes which lead to pancreatic disease.
Just last year (2012) Rituparno had won the Special Jury Award at the National Awards for his film, Chitrangada. In fact, on Sunday night, we watched the film which was screened at the closing ceremony of the Kashish Film Festival in Mumbai and we wished to meet him in the future. Unfortunately, that dream will never come true for us.
In fact, if we go by his tweets, the ace director had just wrapped up filming of his new project, Satyanewshi, two days ago:
