T-Series & Vishesh Films celebrated the success of their emotional drama Aashiqui 2 with the cast and crew yesterday. Directed by Mohit Suri (read our Twinterview here) the film opened to an unprecedented response despite having released alongside the Hollywood franchise Iron Man 3.
So I guess this tweet finally turned out to be true! *lol*
Iron Man 3 of course was made on a budget 1200 crores (can you even call that a “budget”?!) While Aashiqui 2 on comparatively humble budget of 9 crores. While the film went on to make over 20 crores over the weekend – It stayed consistent on Monday too raking in an easy 4.25 crore.
Taran Adarsh, “ #Aashiqui2 passes the ‘Mondaytest’. Rock-steady figures. Bonafide Hit.”
Ecstatic with the success of the film producer Bhushan Kumar, “Aashiqui 2 is a film extremely close to my heart… my father Gulshan Kumar built the pillars of the franchise and I’m very proud to take it forward and do justice to it.”
Mahesh Bhatt, “Aashiqui has managed to retain a spot in people’s minds for over two decades… Aashiqui 2 caters to true entertainment lovers and we are overwhelmed with the manner in which audiences have embraced the film.”
