I had mentioned earlier that the Elle Carnival for a Cause is a great excuse to shop. I went to the Taj hotel on a lazy Sunday afternoon, ready to exercise my credit card, all in the name of shopping for a good cause. Since it was my first time there I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m happy to report that I had a whale of a good time. Here are the five things I loved most.
1) The Designer Goodies on Sale
I went a little berserk in this area! There were 5-6 racks of the choicest designer duds from the biggest Indian designers. There was AM:PM, Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva, SHIFT by Nimish Shah, Shantanu & Nikhil, Wendell Rodricks, and Rajesh Pratap Singh to name a few. All the items were priced below Rs 5,000! Nothing beats the thrill of snagging designer wear at a bargain 🙂
2) The Band
Imagine spending your Sunday sipping wine, shopping and listening to some soulful melodies. In one corner, duo Dwanye Gamree and Hitesh Kumar performed lovely melodious ballads that really set the mood for a relaxed afternoon.
3) The Photo Booth:
It seems now that no event is complete without a photo booth. Visitors the chance to pose with some fun props, and then have the picture superimposed onto the Elle masthead. Pretty natch.
4) The Decor
Everything at the venue had a lovely soft pink vibe – the official colour of Breast Cancer Awareness. From the neon pink sign, the mood lighting and the giant mural – everything was a subtle reminder of what this cause is really about.
5) The Stalls
There were a few stalls that had tarot and angel card readings, and one that had these gorgeous hairbands from Divo & T-shirts with the Breast Cancer Awareness logo.
This is one event I will definitely attend again. Not only did I manage to get myself quite a few Indian designer pieces, but I felt lighter knowing that the proceeds go to a foundation which is close to my heart. The Elle team worked seamlessly and were courteous – ensuring everything went smoothly. Kudos to these guys!
