The outsized influence of our Bollywood superstars is a well known fact in India – and now the rest of the world is taking note. Time Magazine has declared Aamir Khan as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in its latest annual list, dedicating one of it’s seven special edition covers to the Bollywood maestro. A.R. Rahman does the honors with the official write-up, praising Aamir as a “straightforward man” and a “man of his words.” Aamir’s movies “tackle important themes, like poverty and education” while his critically acclaimed TV hit Satyamev Jayate “started a movement that will help change the world in which Indians live.”
Other Indian honorees include Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Delhi lawyer Vrinda Grover. The remaining six magazine covers feature rapper Jay-Z, American politician Rand Paul, actress Jennifer Lawrence, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, entrepreneur Elon Musk and Chinese tennis player Li Na.
It’s no secret that we love Aamir Khan here at Team MM – what about you? Do you think he deserves to be among the world’s top 100?
