For her Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week show (March 13th, 7:00pm), designer Nikasha Tawadey has been inspired by the glamour and baroque style of the 1920’s, combined with the bohemian look of the 70’s. The collection, called Raat Ki Rani, celebrates the spirit of a playful femme fatale. The joie de vivre of the jazz age mingles with the vibe of the disco era in a vibrant, energetic collection that reflects your flirtatious side.
True to her signature aesthetic, this collection explores Nikasha’s core work. Her inherent desiness is seen in distinctive styles like sharara jumpsuits, choli-tanks, mini-kurtas, sadri-waistcoats and kanjari-vests – all modern interpretations of traditional garb. Nikasha will also introduce her version of the three-piece suit with a waist coat, a fitted shirt, and a dhoti-inspired skirt.
Look out for deep backs with herringbone weaves, biased ruching and sharp tailoring to accentuate silhouettes, and drawstrings where they are the least expected. The collection also includes see-through sheaths, hand-woven saris, and Patiala pants in sensuous and rich fabrics like silk, organza, hand-woven tissue, Chanderi, brocade and velvet.
Accessories like batua-slings and nimbu-mirchi charms add the essential fun elements to her edgy designs.
