Vaishali S has a long standing commitment to use hand-woven fabrics for her collections. For her latest offering at LFW she was inspired by the traditional attire of the Assamese women. Most specifically the Mekhla Chadar which is an ensemble consisting of 3 pieces – a skirt like a sarong, a blouse, and an additional piece of cloth draped over the shoulder. It is made using the Muga silk of Assam.
Her pieces have been created exclusively using the Paat – a fabric that is handwoven and translucent and indigenous to Assam. She’s also used khaadi and linen extensively in her line. Breathable fabrics in summer, just what we need!
Vaishali’s collection will hit the runway today at 5 pm.
