Roll up the curtains and come out to play! The circus has come to town and it’s time to clown around! On day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, designer Ken Ferns put together a show which was, perhaps, the most entertaining of the day.
His collection – The Cirque – was inspired by the circus, which explains why his models opened the show by dancing among the audience, tossing brightly coloured balls, spraying string confetti, and bowing paper trumpets. The mood was set for a fantastical showing of colourful creations, executed with precision.
The collection comprised jackets, dresses, skirts, trousers, tops, shirts and tunics, which were very versatile. The most important aspect of his collection were the prints which featured clowns, top-hats (as worn by the Ring Master), and harlequin checks. Fab!
This vivid collection was a display of costume mastery, and the ability to adapt designs onto pieces, which are wearable, as well as theatrical.
