Sanjay Dutt has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment for the 1993 blasts case. The actor, who has already served 18 months, will have to surrender within 4 weeks to serve the remaining term of 3 and a half years. The court has also ruled that he cannot be released on probation, and the actor will not be able to shoot films while he serves his term. Sources tell us that Maanyata, Sanjay’s wife, was expecting this sentence and made herself mentally prepared to face the news.
Apparently, she had even told Sanjay to be prepared for a harsh sentence, and assured him that she would be strong and take care of the twins in his absence. We hear that the actor was unable to sleep the entire night, and was constantly on the phone and watching TV channels for any updates. He also cancelled today’s shoot of his film Policegiri a day in advance, so he could be with his family instead.
This of course brings up the question on whether he will be able to finish his films within these 4 weeks. According to Daily Bhaskar, he will be able to complete shooting of Policegiri and PK, but will probably end up being replaced for Unglee and Zanjeer. As for the third part of the Munnabhai franchise… we’re going to assume this will not be happening, at least for another 3 and a half years.
