2013 is the year that two of my favourite debut directors release their second films – Ayan Mukherjee‘s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is out in May, and Vikramaditya Motwane‘s Lootera is all set for release in July. It’s been three years since Udaan – three years of waiting to see what Vikramaditya comes up with next, and now the trailer of Lootera is finally out. Okay, I’m pretty much in love with this trailer. I got goosebumps while watching it and now I’m really, really counting down the days until July. What’s even greater is that this seems like such different roles for both Ranveer and Sonakshi – we’ve seen Ranveer as the OTT Punjabi boy, and Sonakshi is a regular in masala films, but this movie seems to demand a lot more from them. It’s set in 1950s Kolkata with characters that are much more serious, and I can’t wait to see how these two carry it off.
It’s also apparently based on The Last Leaf, which sounds fantastic (I need to read it soon). What do you think of the trailer? Excuse me while I go watch it again…
