Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi have been getting good comments for their film, Jolly LLB, which released today. As part of the promotions, they appeared as guests on The Front Row with Anupama Chopra, where they were asked whether it frustrated them to see lesser-talented people be considered as stars in Bollywood. Here’s what they said!
Anupama Chopra: Bollywood traditionally likes to keep its actors separate from its stars. Have you ever felt frustrated when you see lesser talented people wielding so much clout, so much money?
Boman Irani: You know honestly, it’s not easy being a star either. You are a star because you have something that maybe a talented person who has talent does not and we have got to accept that. You could be as talented as you want but when a person sitting in the darkness of the theater does not beam at your talent, it’s got no value at the end of the day. A producer understands that. It is the audience that actually hires you.
Anupama Chopra: Arshad, what about you?
Arshad Warsi: If you are an actor, it’s good to know how to act. Today if I call Ranbir Kapoor a star, I think he’s a complete package. He is a very good actor. If I say Hrithik is a star, he is a very good actor. So, that makes me happy. It makes me happy when you deserve to be there.
